In 2018, he made his debut at the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, together with Concerto Melante (Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and guests), performing music by Bach and Telemann in the Meisterkonzerte.

British composer Thomas Adés composed the cycle ‘Love in Winter’ for him. German composer Manfred Schlenker dedicated a cycle of biblical duets to him, based on Dvorak's ‘Biblical Songs’.

In 2016, Swiss composer Frederic Bolli composed the first full-length German-language song cycle for countertenor and piano, ‘Trödelmarkt der Träume’ (Flea Market of Dreams), and in 2017, Louize Labès' sonnets for countertenor and lute. Both cycles were premiered by Alexander Seidel.

Alexander Seidel is principal organist at the Protestant Reformed parish of Höfe on Lake Zurich and has given solo concerts in St. Petersburg, Berlin, Potsdam and throughout Switzerland, among other places. He has played on many historical instruments in Europe. His improvisational skills have been praised by the press as ‘simply brilliant’ (Märkische Allgemeine).

In 2017, a Telemann CD was released on the deutsche harmonia mundi label with the Concerto Melante.

He is recognised in the European Baroque scene as a conductor of Baroque operas and oratorios, Viennese Classical music and choral symphonic works, and is also one of the busiest choral conductors in Switzerland.

Seidel is musical director of the Rheintaler Bach Choir, the Messiah Choir Zurich and the Concert Choir Sängerbund Uster. He also conducts both choirs of the Protestant parish of Höfe on Lake Zurich: the project choir and the vocal ensemble Höfe. Thanks to his experience in theatre, he is very familiar with musicals and theatre music. He brings this expertise to bear as musical director of the Wiesendangen Choir. A milestone in recent years was the performance of all the important orchestral masses by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as conductor of the St. Otmar Choir in St. Gallen from 2015 to 2023.

In 2025/26, the programme includes Carl Orff's ‘Carmina burana’, J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St Matthew Passion, Franz Schubert's ‘Die Winterreise’ in a version for choir, baritone and piano, several concerts with various cantatas by J.S. Bach and a programme of French choral romanticism (Saint Saens, Gounod, etc.).

Alexander founded the New Sagittarius Consort Zurich in 1995, with which he has worked on over fifty concert projects, some of which have been performed at international festivals. Internships and assistantships brought him into contact with Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Roger Norrington and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

He has conducted concerts with musicians from the Berlin Staatskapelle, the RSO Berlin, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the St. Gallen Chamber Soloists, the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra Konstanz, as well as the baroque orchestras Stella Matutina Feldkirch, Musica Poetica Freiburg, La Folia Dresden and La Scintilla of the Zurich Opera House, and the chamber orchestra ‘ibaroccoli’ Zurich.
